Wimberley Market Days

My sister and I got up before the sun and drove to Wimberley on Saturday for a fun day of SHOPPING at the Wimberley Market Days.

It was incredibly hot but with all the great items we were finding, we just kept on truckin'. The parking lot attendant couldn't believe how many trips we made back to the car to load up all of our goodies. As usual, I meant to take more pictures, but I get mesmerized and forget to pull the camera out of my pocket.

I found one booth that had all the things I love - old door knobs, picture frames, enamel pans, flatware, bottles. . . all at better-than-garage-sale prices. I loaded up all kinds of items that I will use in other projects.

Mini makeover

I started playing on Photoshop today and decided to make a new header for my blog. The other one just wasn't working for me any more. The little girl is my Mom when she was a little girl and I have absolutely no idea who it is in the picture by the typewriter. He is a photo that I purchased a couple of years ago.

I am a lot faster working with Photoshop, but it still takes me a great deal of time. I guess the fact that I can do anything at all in it is an absolute miracle. LOL

Steep and curvy

We saw lots of these signs today. Hold on to your seat! It's kinda scary when you're in the passenger seat. Heck, it may have also been scary behind the wheel.

Petit Jean State Park is one of our favorite parks in Arkansas. We went here a couple of years ago and really wanted to go back.

This rock wall was just oozing beauty.

Good thing that I stopped by the ladies room before arriving at this spot.

Avoid this lovely green ivy at all costs.

These are what they call "turtle rocks". I do not know what kind of geological formation they are, but they are really interesting.

Native Americans used to live in this bluff cave. It didn't look like a bad way to live.

About 15 miles down the road is Mt. Nebo State Park. It's on top of a very tall mountain which gives it some wonderful views. Getting up to the top is not for the faint of heart.

We decided to take the rim trail, then swing down to the bench trail then merge back into the rim trail. Only problem, we passed the spot where the trail came together. Soooooo . . .

. . . after falling down and hurting my knee and ankle, I had the pleasure of hiking up these steps. I don't know if you can see just how steep they are, but there were about 300 of the nasty little things.

Devil's Den

About every other year, Howard and I take a scenic trip to Arkansas. I'm glad that he does most, if not all of the driving. It allows me to sit back, relax, and enjoy the view.

We hadn't been to Devil's Den before, so we put it at the top of our list for this trip.

This park is riddled with caves, creeks, trees, and LOTS of elevation changes. Burn, baby, burn. LOL

This was my favorite spot on the trail. It's called the Devil's Icebox. It feels just like standing in front of the refrigerator and it is most welcome when you are hiking through the park in July. It was cool enough that it even made a foggy mist in the air.

There were spots of water here and there, too. I was really tempted to shed my shoes and jump in. The reason you don't see Howard in any of these pictures is because I took the pictures of him in the portrait orientation and I haven't figured out how to flip them yet. Maybe next time.

Unwanted house guest

I am not thrilled with the house guest that is scheduled to arrive here shortly. His name is Alex and I think he is really going to cause a disruption around here.

With this ring . . .

One of the wonderful things about Etsy, is that you can contact the vendors through a "convo" to get items made that you just can't locate in stores. Tara was in the process of gathering items for her upcoming wedding. She wanted a little bird's nest to serve as the ring-bearer pillow. She found a nest in my shop and contacted me so that I could make a custom bird nest for her.

After she received the nest, she tied the wedding rings to it . . .

. . . and had the most-adorable little boy carry it down the aisle.
