I can't stop myself!

I made another this afternoon. It features a working barometer that has a cute fairy that was created by Lisa's Altered Art perched on it. This one is going to my booth at Betty's tomorrow.

Vanity desks

If you are looking for a fine antiques that have been preserved, loved and well-cared for over the centuries, you probably won't find them in my booth. I prefer character. There are certain vendors that I visit each time I go to Warrenton because they carry pieces that have been banished to the barn.

This poor piece had some of its embellishments missing so I just broke out the sander and smoothed out its rough edges. The last time that I went to Lowe's, I scored some wonderful paint + primer from the mis-tint bin. It goes on like butter.
Sometimes, it's a bit like putting lipstick on a pig, but that is the fun of it. You just can't create this kind of character. This kind has to be created over time.

Inspiration at Renaissance Antiques

Last week, Joan and I took some time to explore the upstairs section of Renaisssance Antiques. It's like going to Austin, Texas without the long drive.
You never know what you will see up there.
I even found one of my Junk Queen pictures. See it over the door? It's good for the ego to see your creations here and there.

I really like these shelves. They are quite special.
I found an old baby dress near my jewelry display case, but I really didn't know what I would do with it until . . .

. . . I saw this clever light fixture. The wheels started turning. I have a nice floor lamp, but it had a very boring shade on it. I decided to marry the two.
I made it to take to my booth at Betty's, but
I may have a hard time letting this one go.

Paris

I had SO much fun working on this project. It all fell into place so nicely. I am going to take this window to my downtown booth the next time I go. I am already looking forward to making another!
