All things Texan

One of the nice things about belonging to a guild is the shoutouts received from other members. Cctexan2 of Houston has featured my antique photo album in her Artfire Collection of items belonging to members of the Texas ArtFire guild. The guild is formed from current Texans and former Texans who are artists on ArtFire. Our membership has grown to over 100 members so far.

Be sure to stop by cctexan2's ArtFire shop. Her shop is chock-full of jewelry making supplies for jewelry artisans.

Rustic Halloween

I have so much fun for Halloween. I guess it's the crisp, exciting air. When you live on the coast, you really notice when the humidity goes down. I mean, really.

. . . or it could also be all the fun things that I get to create . . .

Blushie featured my art bottle in her ArtFire collection of Halloween items. She makes beautiful soaps and "smell goods". Be sure to check out her lovely shop.

Artfire's BIG deal

ArtFire - Buy Handmade - Sell Handmade

ArtFire has been in the beta stage, but is about to launch its regular version. To celebrate ArtFire's beta exit, they are offering their Pro accounts at $5.95 if 20,000 sign up. Once they hit 20,000 new Pro account sign ups, everyone will get this rate for LIFE. It was announced yesterday and already over 1,500 have already opted-in. There is a 50,000 new member max, so if you are interested, you best not delay. I love my ArtFire account. It's really great when I sell my more-expensive items because there are NO FEES for listing or selling!! It makes it better than having your own website because you get the advantage of all of the ArtFire traffic, too.

Little brag session

Yesterday, Brenda surprised me by including my wire basket in her ArtFire Collections list that she calls A Basket Case (hey! I'm one of those!) Be sure to stop by her shop, TheTwelfthDimension. She has the cutest miniatures for dollhouses.
Then, this morning, Paula told me that she had included my captured witch in HER Artfire Collections list. Hers is chock full of witches. She calls it There be Witches. Paula's shop is PicardCreative and she is on ArtFire, too. Head over to her shop for a good chuckle. You will see what I mean when you get there. :D.

Patty Ann of TheSunnySideBiz put this ArtFire collection together entitled, Lets Face It. She featured my face pendant in her list of the "faces of ArtFire". Be sure to stop by her shop. She is a seamstress and sews beautiful items. She has been sewing most, if not all, of her adult life and her fine craftsmanship is evident. :D

Nest

I made this assemblage with the embodiment of a nest in mind and today (to my delight), I learned that it was selected to be part of an ArtFire Member Curated Collection.

Jan of The Hermit's Garden put this collection together entitled Lone Stars. It features various artisans from around the big State of Texas. I am honored to be a part of this awesome collection.

Push it to my phone, please

I received an email from Etsy today that I am simply thrilled about. It detailed how to set up a filter so that when I make a sale on Etsy, it will be pushed straight to my cell phone!! Yippee!! I have it set up, but I haven't seen it in action . . . still waiting for a new sale. Anyone wanting to help me out in this area can rush straight over to my Etsy shops and have some fun. LOL I also set it up so that I will get instant notification for my ArtFire sales as well.

It is so easy, even I could do it without help from my boys. Here is what I did:
1. Open the gmail account (probably works in others, but I have gmail)
2. Click the "Create a Filter" link at the top of the screen
3. In the "From" box, type transactions@etsy.com
4. Click "Next Step"
5. In the Forward box, type in your email address for your phone.
6. Click "Create filter" and Voila!!, you're all set.

Here is a list of the email addresses based on the various cell phone providers:

Verizon: 10digitphonenumber@vtext.com

AT&T: 10digitphonenumber@mms.att.net

Sprint: 10digitphonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com

T-Mobile: 10digitphonenumber@tmomail.net

Nextel: 10digitphonenumber@messaging.nextel.com

Cingular: 10digitphonenumber@mobile.mycingular.com

Virgin Mobile: 10digitphonenumber@vmobl.com

Alltel: 10digitphonenumber@alltelmessage.com OR message.alltel.com

CellularOne: 10digitphonenumber@mobile.celloneusa.com

Omnipoint: 10digitphonenumber@omnipointpcs.com

Qwest: 10digitphonenumber@qwestmp.com

Enjoy!

Nancy featured me!

After my whirlwind weekend, I finally got to sit down at my computer to do some catching up. A delightful surprise was awaiting me. Nancy featured one of my Artfire listings in her blog. Her blog is Vintage Visions by Nancy. It's full of eye candy - especially to those who like vintage and antiques.
I will be checking her blog often. Thanks, Nancy! :D

Witch Cabinet Card tags

I just came back in from my sweatshop (studio) where I made these Halloween tags. Adobe Photoshop allowed me to digitally alter these cabinet card images. My son will be so proud of me. I did these without his help. Photoshop is so complicated. As long as I can travel the same paths, I don't usually get lost. I've even learned to use overlays and effects.

Nest Assemblage

This little guy has been sitting on my piano unfinished for quite some time. I had started on him before I took my fulltime job, but now that the job is over, I can finally get back into my studio and have some fun!

The embodiment of a nest, this assemblage contains real feathers and is labeled with a medal medallion. He is a dirty-faced creature with a vintage button on his back.
